Some (or most) dont even have a huge cult following. And most people reading this list will just shake their heads and wonder about my sanity.
And even through they have cheesy effects, even cheesier dialogue, wooden sets, more wooden actors, and plots you can throw a bus through, these films sparked something in my imagination that has later shown up in my drawings and stories.
When I find them in a thrift store or flea market I buy them to recapture that spark and for the look on my sons face when he sees what gem I dragged home now.
1. Barbarella - way back in the 60s my parents used to drop my siblings and I off at the Saturday matinee for some alone time. Our one and only theater usually had two films up on the marquee (zounds! two screens, we were big time!). One was usually a cowboy flick and the latest offering from Hollyweird.
But this Saturday the cowboy flick was paired with a space movie. I begged/bullied my younger sister and brother into agreeing. Dad just saw a girl with the standard chain mail bikini with a ray gun so he figured it was ok (this was before the MPAA ratings spoiled things).
Of course when our parents picked us up after the movie my sister ratted me out (You see her boobies, behind and everything!
2. Deep Star Six - made to cash in on hype from Camerons Abyss. The killer lobster was laughable but I liked design of the underwater habitat.
3. Defcon Four (1985) - a rather run of the mill post apocalypse movie but the beginning of the movie when the characters were aboard the orbital missile platform watching the was the best part of this movie.
4. The Love War (1970) - A made for TV movie. I liked the concept of two interstellar civilizations having a private little war for our planet but having to keep it secret from the primitives.
6. Supernova (2000) - a Coast Guard in space movie that never lived up to its promise. The should of made this into a SyFi channel mini-series, made Angela Bassett the captain and placed real Coast Guard situation in a space context.
7. Around the World Underwater (1966) - a small exploration submarine traveling around the world on a scientific mission. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the US Navy actually had a similar concept!
8. The Challenge - Another made for TV movie. the US and China are in conflict over a downed satellite. Both side agree to a one-on-one battle on a tropical island.
9. Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (1969) -
10. [I cant remember the name] - An upscale apartment complex becomes infested with slugs that cause people to become amorous.
One dishonorable mention - The Fish That Ate Hitler
I saw this (possibly) German soft porn flick at a theater in northern Florida (Tallahassee, maybe) 1977-78, or there about, one night during a high school trip.
The mixed group I was with (three boys, three girls) chooses this movie because no one in our group had seen this movie and it appeared to be a comedy.
The simulated sex scenes were played for laughs

Progress isn't made by early risers.
It's made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something.
